Scott Mason - Director of Bands

Mr. Mason has been director of the Coppell High School Band for over 11 years. In his tenure, CHS has consistently proven to be on of the premier bands in the state of Texas, the southwest, and the United States. He is a graduate of Steven F. Austin University.

 

Mike Davis - Assoc. Director of Bands

Mike Davis is in his second year at CHS as Assistant Band Director and his 17th year to teach.  Prior to CHS, Mr. Davis was the Director of Bands at Parkhill Junior High School in Richardson ISD for 10 years and the Director of Bands at Murchison Middle School in Austin ISD for 5 years.  Bands under Mr. Davis’ direction have been consecutive Sweepstakes winners at UIL Concert and Sightreading Contests and many Invitational Festivals.  In 2001-2002 Parkill Junior High placed 3rd in the State Honor Band finals and in 2003-2004 it was the 1st Runner-Up in the State Honor Band finals.  Professional affiliations include TBA, TMEA and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.

  James Thomas - Color Guard Director

Since Mr. Thomas came to CHS in 2003, the color guard has been promoted from Scholastic-AAA to Scholastic-A class. In his 5 years at L D Bell High School, they won 12 BOA regionals and 2 state championships and came in 4th at BOA Grand Nationals. A graduate of Texas A & M and an alumni of a DCI Drum & Bugle Corps, he has previously taught a DCI corps and currently coaches Coppell, Wylie, Southlake/Carroll, Wills Point, and Creekview high schools' color guards and Northwestern (LA) State University's guard.
  Maddie Garrett - Assistant Color Guard Director

Ms. Garrett was the 2004 Solo and Ensembles state co-champion and lieutenant captain of the 2004-2005 CHS Color Guard team, which took 2nd Place at the 2004 Winter Guard International Midwestern Regional in Tulsa. In 2005, she joined Black Gold, an "Independent Open" (college level) color guard. Black Gold took 1st place at the 2006 North Texas Colorguard Association championships and 7th place at the 2006 Winterguard World Championships in Dayton, Ohio. She's currently studying Radio, TV and Film at the University of North Texas.
