Fortunately we only need 2-3 people per evening. Unfortunately many of those evenings are on weekdays!
Everyone pleeeeaaase pitch in !
If you haven't done concessions before this is the low-pace place to start. It is easy.
Coppell proudly announces eleven students have been named to the Texas All-State Band. The State of Texas boasts over 250,000 high school music students – less than 1% make it to the coveted All-State Band! How do you select the best of the best? Well, it begins in September at Regional Tryouts, even before marching band competitions and football game performances have ended. Those thousands of students are divided into 28 regions within several Areas in Texas. Of those who participate at the Regional level, 137 CHS students were awarded placement in the All Region Band. In fact, Coppell students made up 80% of the All Region Band, which participated in a two-day clinic and concert experience on Saturday, January 19 at CHS.
From Regionals, students earn qualification for the Area level. Based on judges scores from auditions, 39 CHS students qualified to compete at the Area Level, more than any other school in the State. Those students took very little time off this Winter Break, as they prepared for and participated in the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA) audition for Area Bands in Waco, Texas on Saturday, January 05, 2008.
Then, based on the auditions in Waco, the All State Band members were announced. Now, they head to San Antonio for the 2008 TMEA Clinic/Convention, which will provide four days of educational growth, inspiration and motivation. This extraordinary event will assemble the finest musicians – and music educators – in the state. Mr. Mason, CISD Director of Bands says, “These students were particularly diligent in preparing for a series of auditions and very tough competition, and now they will be rewarded with amazing opportunities as All State band members, from summer camp scholarships to college contacts.” It’s not over yet! These fine musicians will audition for chair placement at All-State and then spend several days in intense rehearsals, preparing for a concert. Congratulations to all CISD music educators who have encouraged these students along the way in their fine arts education.
Coppell’s All-Staters include: Roy Park, B Flat Clarinet; Patrick Broadwell, Alto Saxophone; Shawn Izadi, Bari Sax; Michael Park, Alto Clarinet; Austin Ferguson,
Percussion; Paul Blazek, Bass Clarinet; William McKee, Trumpet; Han Yu, Flute; Kyle Murray, Trombone; Gloria An, Flute; William Smith, Oboe.

WAYS TO KEEP INFORMED
How can you know what’s happening with the CHS Band? If you’re new to the band, you’ll be amazed at how much happens at a rapid pace -- especially during marching and contest season. In addition to talking to your student, here are four excellent ways to be in the know:
1) ATTEND BOOSTER MEETINGS, each 2nd Tuesday of the month from 7 - 8 p.m., in the Band Hall. The first meeting will be August 14th.
2) SIGN UP FOR EMAIL. Late-breaking information is sent via email. We subscribe to an email distribution service called iContact. Freshman parents, you should receive an email from us before the end of June at the parent email address given by your student at Fish Camp. All other grades will soon hear from us as well. The great part about this service is that you can manage your email profile yourself -- change an address, add an address, etc. To sign up, Subscribe here!
We even have a newsletter archive: http://chsbandboosters.icontact.com/archives/newsletters
3) CHECK THE WEBSITE FREQUENTLY.
Go to chsbandboosters.com regularly for news of the band’s achievements, latest information on marching contests, rehearsals, rips, etc. You’ll find fabulous photos, driving directions to events, etc. Best tip: Make this site your homepage!
4) SHARE YOUR TALENTS. As many and diverse as our students, we too, the parents! In this newsletter is a list of the CHSBB Board members and the committees they run. If you have a gift/talent to share, please call them.
